College Basketball Odds
UCLA -5
Total: 163 points
UCLA and Oregon taking to the floor tonight is the second of two monster games on ESPN tonight, following North Carolina and Duke. These are two of the best teams out west and a good percentage of college basketball fans don’t get to see these teams enough.
Oregon stumbled a bit early in the season with the loss of Dillon Brooks, but he’s back on the floor now and the Ducks have gone 19-1 since starting the season with a 2-2 record. They have five guys averaging double figures on the season and Brooks gives them a strong go-to guy when they need a bucket.
UCLA might have the best offense in the country, they average almost 1.25 points per possession, which leads all teams in offensive efficiency numbers. The Bruins’ problem has come on the defensive end of the floor, the 76.5 points per game they surrender ranks 276th in the country. That’s not good, but the offense has been able to allow them to just outscore people while putting up 93 points a game.
Lonzo Ball might be the best overall player in the country, he’s one of six guys on UCLA to average double figures. TJ Leaf and Thomas Welsh give the Bruins some nice options down low and tonight’s matchup with the Ducks inside could be the difference.
Oregon has length and athleticism in the post, both Chris Boucher and Jordan Bell combine to block five shots per game and are potential double-double machines as well.
Oregon and UCLA are both quality teams being ranked in the Top 10. UCLA has an advantage being at home, where they are 11-1 and the only loss came to Arizona. The Ducks won the first matchup between these teams in Eugene 89-87 and this looks to be one of those types of games. Oregon has had some struggles on the road and UCLA will take advantage.
