College Basketball Northwestern Wildcats at Purdue Boilermakers Start Time, Betting Odds, Free Pick

The Northwestern Wildcats are on the road in college basketball action tonight, taking on the Purdue Boilermakers. The game is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. The college basketball odds for the game have the Boilermakers favored by a comfortable margin here to pick up the win.

Purdue and Northwestern will be battling for third place in the Big Ten in this contest. The Wildcats currently sit by themselves in third place behind Wisconsin and Maryland, but a win by either team here keeps them in the running for a potential conference crown.

The Boilermakers have been tough to beat in West Lafayette this season, but both Minnesota and Villanova have been able to get the job done. Matt Painter’s club is coming off a loss on the road at Nebraska, a game they probably should have won but didn’t. Now they have to regroup and take on a Northwestern team that is having a magical season.

The Wildcats are looking like a lock for the NCAA Tournament, a place they obviously haven’t spent a lot of time. Northwestern is 10-2 the last dozen games and they have won six consecutive games. The win streak has allowed the Wildcats to climb into the rankings and they are led by Scottie Lindsey, Vic Law and Bryan McIntosh. Between the three the Wildcats have a strong trio of options with the basketball.

Purdue has been able to beat people up inside, something they will look to continue to do here in this one. Caleb Swanigan is the real deal and a potential player of the year candidate in the conference. He’s a double-double machine and will certainly cause Northwestern problems on the glass. His partner Isaac Haas is a bruiser as well and between the two, the interior should be whatever Purdue wants it to be.

The Boilers get the edge here playing at home, where they are comfortable and where they play well. Northwestern is actually a decent road team, going 4-2, but they have dropped each of their tough road battles at Butler and Michigan State.
