Northwestern continues its march toward the school’s first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats are in the 10-seed range by most accounts but they have struggled down the stretch, winning just once the last four games overall.
Michigan should also by comfortably in the tournament, the Wolverines own victories over both Wisconsin and Purdue in the last four games. Michigan owns just two road victories on the season, beating both Indiana and Rutgers away from home. Those aren’t impressive wins but they are necessary for any team that wants to reach the tournament. The Wolverines will play each of their last two games on the road, also taking on Nebraska on Sunday, and both are winnable games.
Derrick Walton Jr. is playing real well for Michigan and is helping lead his team to this point. Michigan is 9-7 in conference play and could still finish in a very solid spot.
Storms kept Michigan from traveling last night to Evanston, so they will be traveling and playing on the same day. That might play a role into Michigan’s rhythm.
Northwestern is looking to win a school-record 21st game here tonight. They should be more than a point favorite over a Michigan team that has had its road struggles.
