The Illinois Fighting Illini are hosting the Michigan State Spartans in college basketball action tonight. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Don’t look now, but Illinois has a chance to make the NCAA Tournament. The Illini have won three in a row and four of the last five. The last two games of the season are winnable as well, if they win tonight over Michigan State they’ll be playing Rutgers on Saturday for a chance to capture 19 wins during the regular season. A victory in the Big Ten Tournament would give them 20 on the campaign and a legitimate shot to make the NCAAs.

Michigan State should be in the tournament as well. While they obviously haven’t had a good season they have done enough, at least on the surface, to look like a tournament team the past couple of weeks. Yet struggling on the road has been an issue for them. In the last eight games, where six of which were wins, the two losses came in blowout fashion on the road at Michigan and Purdue.

Illinois needs this win as they now believe an NCAA Tournament appearance is within reach. The Fighting Illini need to win each of their last two games to reach .500 in Big Ten play and Malcolm Hill will lead them to victory.
