The college basketball odds for the game have the Gators favored by a slim margin to pick up the victory at home in this one.
College Basketball Odds
Florida -1.5
Total: 161 points
Tonight we find out whether or not the Gators are for real. Florida has been beating up on bad SEC opponents all season, they're just a single game back in the loss column from Kentucky and South Carolina in the conference standings. These Gators are strong defensively and they have been good enough on offense to average nearly 1.2 points per possession, which ranks 20th best in the country in offensive efficiency numbers.
Kentucky is loaded with talent and John Calipari's team is strong on both ends of the floor. They're one of four teams in the country that rank inside the Top 15 nationally in offensive and defensive efficiency numbers, joining Gonzaga, Virginia and West Virginia in those categories.
The Wildcats are battle tested, but have looked beatable at times the past month. Kentucky struggled on the road at Mississippi State, then dropped consecutive games to Tennessee and Kansas following a beat down of South Carolina. They nearly lost at home to Georgia earlier this week as well, having to go to overtime to knock off the Bulldogs in Lexington. But with the talent they have, led by Malik Monk, they're good enough to take the floor with anybody in the country.
Both teams have 10 Top 100 RPI wins and all five of Florida's losses have been to strong programs. Kentucky's four losses have also come against solid teams as well and they can win here in Gainesville.
