College Basketball Kansas Jayhawks at Iowa State Cyclones Start Time, Betting Odds, Free Pick

The Iowa State Cyclones are hosting the Kansas Jayhawks tonight in college basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. The college basketball betting odds for the game have the Jayhawks favored by a slim margin to pic up the victory on the road.

College Basketball Odds
Kansas -2.5
Total: 154 points

This is the type of game in past seasons where you’d expect Iowa State to find a way to pick up the win. But now that Fred Hoiberg is in the NBA, the Cyclones look a little less like a team full of solid players. Certainly the Iowa State program is one that should make a return trip to the NCAA Tournament once again this season, but they have to start picking up quality wins.

The Cyclones have played four games against opponents with Top 50 RPI numbers, but they’ve lost all four. The most recent was a seven-point loss at TCU on Saturday, a game where the Horned Frogs shot 57 percent from the floor in the win.

Kansas might be the best and most complete team in the country. The Jayhawks have only lost once this season, a 103-99 defeat to Indiana to open the season. Since then they’ve won 16 straight games and are 5-0 in Big 12 action. Frank Mason III is looking like a national player of the year contender with his 20.5 points per game and stingy overall play. Kansas is loaded with talent all over the court, the Jayhawks are a decent defensive team and that will be important tonight as the Cyclones will want to speed the game up and get as many possessions as possible.

Monte Morris leads the Cyclones from the point guard spot and he’s one of the best in the country. Iowa State ranks in the Top 35 nationally in offensive and defensive efficiency numbers, Kansas is very good offensively, ranking fourth in the country averaging 1.21 points per possession.

This feels like a game the Cyclones can win. Kansas has been rock solid all season and it could take a hot shooting night from beyond the arc for Iowa State to win.
