The No. 15 Iowa Hawkeyes hit the road tonight in Big Ten college basketball action when they take on the Indiana Hoosiers. The game is scheduled for a 9 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Currently the odds for the game have Iowa favored by a couple of points on the road.
In a battle of Big Ten teams on the hardwoods tonight the Indiana Hoosiers are looking to pick up another solid home victory. They beat Michigan just a few weeks back and now could take out the No. 15 team in the country. Indiana has been pretty solid in home games this season, going 12-3, but they have been awful on the road. Thankfully for them they're hosting the Hawkeyes, who have gone 4-3 in road games this season.
The Hawkeyes have won two straight games and this is the only regular season matchup with Indiana. Melshan Basabe led Iowa with 16 points in the team's win over Penn State while Roy Devyn Marble added 15 points. The Hawkeyes are now on the verge of winning four straight road games in conference play for the first time since 1986-87. They're 1.5 games behind Michigan and Michigan State for the Big Ten lead after both schools lost Sunday. The third place Hawkeyes can continue to put pressure on the Wolverines and Spartans with a victory here tonight.
Indiana sits in 10th play for the conference standings and are on the outside looking in for the NCAA Tournament. But they can play some spoiler action at this point in the season. Indiana is hoping to avoid losing four straight for the first time since the 2010-11 season. Yogi Ferrell has played very well in their victories this season and he's going to need a big game tonight. The Hoosiers got beat up by Purdue this weekend and shot just 32.2 percent from the floor in their 18-point loss.
Indiana has taken three of four from Iowa, including back-to-back home wins. Ferrell had 19 points and five assists in a 73-60 victory over Iowa last March 2. All six of the Hawkeyes' losses this season have come against teams currently ranked in the Top 25, so they have been through some tough times this season but still are ranked in the Top 15. We like this game to be very close throughout and we expect an Iowa win by a couple of possessions.
