The Duke Blue Devils are taking on the South Carolina Gamecocks in NCAA Tournament action on Sunday night. The game is scheduled for an 8:40 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on TNT. The college basketball odds for the game have the Blue Devils listed as the favorite to pick up the win.
College Basketball Odds
Duke -7.5
Total: 142.5 points
South Carolina was trailing Marquette at halftime Friday. The second half result was anything but close as the Gamecocks held a 54-33 advantage and blew the doors off the Golden Eagles. It was the school’s first tournament win since 1973 and South Carolina came out and shot better than 52 percent for the game.
Duke’s not worried, though. The Blue Devils need to play defense in this one and consistently rebound the basketball, which would give them an advantage with their size and length.
Jayson Tatum had 18 points and he has emerged into a go-to player for the Devils. Both Frank Jackson and Matt Jones had 14 points for the Devils in the win, the Blue Devils connected for 14 triples and had as many blocks, eight, as turnovers.
Big benefit for South Carolina here is they are playing this contest in Greenville, where the Gamecocks should have quite a few fans in attendance. Duke is going to have to overcome that with solid play and getting Luke Kennard going early.
