The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers hit the road to take on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs tonight in Conference USA action. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network. Currently the College Basketball Betting Odds for the game have the Bulldogs favored by a comfortable margin here.
The two best teams in Conference USA meet up tonight in this one. The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers are still unbeaten in conference action, winners of seven straight games against Conference USA foes. The 14-5 record overall on the season is pretty solid, including a pair of Top 50 RPI wins.
The last team to beat Western Kentucky was Louisville back before Christmas as the Hilltoppers have gone 11-1 in their last 12 games overall, stockpiling wins. Playing on the road hasn't been easy for the Hilltoppers, though, going just 3-3 away from home. They've won two straight on the road after knocking off Florida Atlantic and Florida International in back-to-back games. Conference road games are very important for building up resumes and competing for league titles and tonight's game is huge for both clubs.
Louisiana Tech has won all eight games on their own floor, none of which came over Top 100 RPI teams. Six of those wins at home have come against teams in the sub-175 RPI as the best win for the Bulldogs at home came over Middle Tennessee State (RPI: 133). The Bulldogs are led by three guys in double figures with both Alex Hamilton and Raheem Appleby scoring 16.7 points per game. Erik McCree shoots nearly 49 percent from the floor and averages a dozen points a game, giving the Bulldogs another solid option.
The Hilltoppers are led by T.J. Price and his 17 points per game in addition to six rebounds. George Fant is a 14-point, nine-rebound per game guy as well as the Hilltoppers will look to get the ball inside and dominate the paint. Western Kentucky is a big rebounding team and scores on average 74 points a game. Louisiana Tech is not a good rebounding team, but they also score 74 points per game.
The eight points seems a bit steep.
