College Basketball Betting Odds San Jose State Spartans vs UNLV Runnin Rebels Free Pick

Saturday night college basketball and we will see the San Jose State Spartans travel to the Thomas & Mack Center to take on the UNLV Rebels. The game has a start time of 10:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on the Mountain West Network. Current Vegas betting odds have UNLV listed as 20 point favorites, while the total is set at 123.5.

Analysis:  The San Jose State Spartans are off to a horrid 2-13 start to their year, which includes marks of 0-3 in the MWC and 0-5 on the road. The Spartans are 15-35-1 ATS in their last 51 games following a S.U. loss, 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 vs. Mountain West and 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. San Jose State has been a very poor offensive team this year, ranking 345th in scoring (55.6 ppg), 333rd in shooting (38.3%), 295th in 3 point shooting (29.8%) and 346th in FT shooting (59.6%). The defense for this team has been poor as well, ranking 205th in points allowed (67.3 ppg), 275th in defensive FG% (44.6%) and 336th in 3 point defense (39.1%).

The UNLV Runnin Rebels come into this game off a bad home loss to the Nevada Wolfpack. That loss now gives the team a 3 game slide and puts them at 9-6 on the year, including 0-2 in the MWC. UNLV is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400, b ut 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. Mountain West. The Rebels have been an average offensive team this year, ranking 175th in scoring (67.9 ppg), 174th in shooting (43.8%), 143rd in 3 point shooting (34.8%) and 317th in FT shooting (63.4%). Defensively the Rebels have been decent as they come in ranked 146th in points allowed (64.3 ppg), 28th in defensive FG% (37.8%) and 132nd in 3 point defense (32.3%).

Pick: Going with the Over here. I know that the Spartans have had troubles scoring their year, but their games have been going over of late thanks to a bad defense that has allowed 69.4 ppg overall and 72.2 pp on the road. The Rebels have allowed 60.6 ppg at home and 65.6 ppg in their last 5, while the Spartans have allowed 67.8 ppg in their last 5. Neither offense is great, but I can see the Rebels taking some recent frustrations out on their team on offense and notching at least 75 points, while the Spartans should be god for at least 55 of their own. 130+ here.
