The Nebraska Cornhuskers take on the Ohio State Buckeyes tonight in Big Ten College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the College Basketball Betting Odds for the game have the Buckeyes favored by double digits in this one.
Ohio State has dropped two straight games on the road against Michigan State and Michigan, but tonight they're at home. The Buckeyes have been very good on their own floor this season and a victory here in this game would be the 20th on the season. Head coach Thad Matta has always gotten the best of his teams in Columbus, and this year's team could finish as high as third in the league.
D'Angelo Russell might be the best overall player he's coached while at the helm of the Buckeyes. Russell leads the Bucks in points (19 ppg) and rebounds (5.8) and hands out almost six assists per game. The Buckeyes have been very solid on the offensive end this year, pouring in 77 points a game while shooting almost 50 percent from the floor, which ranks inside the Top 5 nationally.
Nebraska looked like a probable NCAA Tournament team at the start of the season, but they've been a terrible team this year. Losers of five straight and seven of eight, the Cornhuskers have played their way out of the tournament field. While the Huskers have two of the top scorers in the Big Ten in Terran Petteway (18.2) and Shavon Shields (15.3), Nebraska is one of the worst offensively efficient teams in the country.
Tim Miles' team scores just 61.7 points per game, which ranks 309th nationally. The defense give up 62 points per game for the season, which is obviously not a good combination. Tonight they get rolled yet again as the Huskers have not been good on the road.
