The Maryland Terrapins welcome in the Nebraska Cornhuskers tonight in Big Ten College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Nebraska limps to Maryland tonight having lost their last three games overall and five of the last six. The Cornhuskers were a Top 25 team to open the season but early losses to Rhode Island, Creighton and Incarnate Word were evidence of things to come as opposed to being just bumps in the road. Now the Cornhuskers are seeing their final days of the season come to a close.
Maryland has won two straight and three of the last four games themselves, but can't get caught looking ahead to the battle with Wisconsin next week. Nebraska has proven time and time again this season that they can't play in big games and it's going to cost them. Maryland is tied for second place in the conference and is a no-doubt lock for the NCAA Tournament. The Terps have won 15 of their 16 games at home this season and that number should continue to increase this evening as Nebraska is just 1-8 in their home games this season.
The Huskers score just 62 points per game, but have two of the better scorers in the league in Terran Petteway and Shavon Shields, combining for 34 points a game themselves. Problem is Nebraska has no one else they can rely on in any fashion, making them an easily beatable team.
Maryland has gotten great play from freshman Melo Trimble, the team's leader in scoring, assists and steals. Paired with Dez Wells the backcourt has been very productive and should cause problems for Nebraska tonight. The Terps don't do anything particularly great, but they are a very solid team. Tonight they take care of Nebraska.
