The Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas State Wildcats renew their rivalry tonight in Big 12 College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the College Basketball Betting Odds for the game have Kansas favored by a couple of buckets on the road.
Kansas has been playing well all season, but the Jayhawks have dropped two of the last three games on the road. Those games came to Oklahoma State and West Virginia, both of which are having better overall seasons than Kansas State. That alone doesn't determine whether or not this will be a close game as Kansas State is in a position to try and play spoiler the rest of the year.
The Wildcats knocked off Oklahoma a couple of games ago to end a five-game losing streak, but they followed the big win up with two straight losses on the road to TCU and Baylor. Kansas State has been too inconsistent all season and the last three games of the year are going to be tough against Kansas, Iowa State and Texas.
Kansas has a very solid club and picked up an 11-point win in the first matchup between these two rivals. Away from home Kansas owns a 5-4 record which isn't terrible, Kansas State has gone 10-4 in their home games this season. Perry Ellis had a nice game against Kansas State the first time around, posting 16 points and 12 rebounds.
The last time Kansas came to Manhattan, though, they lost by a bucket in overtime. The Jayhawks are now the fourth straight team to be ranked coming to take on Kansas State. The Jayhawks have gotten very nice minutes from Frank Mason III and Wayne Selden Jr. in addition to the younger guys on the front line.
In this one tonight Kansas will attack the boards, force Kansas State into turnovers and pick up a tough win on the road.
