Saturday college basketball and we will see the Florida Gators travel to Reed Arena to take on the Texas A&M Aggies. The game has a start time of 6:30 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on SEC Network. Current Vegas betting odds have Texas A&M listed as 2 point favorites, while the total is set at 122.
Analysis: The Florida Gators have not been playing very good ball this year and could very well miss the NCAA Tournament. The Gators have lost 3 in a row to fall to 12-12 on the year overall and just 5-6 with in the SEC. Florida has gone 2-6 ATS in their last 8 vs. the SEC and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. Florida has not been a good offensive team this year, ranking 222nd in scoring (65.6 ppg), 150th in shooting (43.9%), 214th in 3 point shooting (33.3%) and 275th in FT shooting (66.3%). Defensively the Gators have been very good, ranking 31st in points allowed (59.8 ppg), 92nd in defensive FG% (40.7%) and 176th in 3 point defense (33.8%).
The Texas A&M Aggies have been a surprise this year as they currently stand 7-54 in the SEC and 16-7 overall. The Aggies have lost 2 of heir last 3 including a rather shocking 62-53 home loss to Georgia in their last game. A&M has gone 6-2 ATS in their last 8 vs. the SEC and 52-25 ATS in their last 77 games following a S.U. loss. The Aggies have been a very average offensive team this year, ranking 172nd in scoring (67.6 ppg), 71st in shooting (45.9%), 156th in 3 point shooting (34.7%) and 317th in FT shooting (64.3%). The defense for this team has been solid, ranking 74th in points allowed (61.9 ppg), 48th in defensive FG% (39.5%) and 31st in 3 point defense (30.2%).
Pick: I will look at the Over here. The Aggies play a very slow grind it out style of ball, but their home games have averaged 132 ppg so far this year. The Gators have played solid defense this year, but they have struggled some on the road where they have allowed 66.7 ppg so far. This will not be an uptempo game, but still I feel that the teams will combine to put at least 125 points on the board.
