Clemson Tigers vs Virginia Cavaliers ACC Basketball Odds, Free Pick

Tuesday night college basketball and we will see the Clemson Tigers travel to John Paul Jones Arena to take on the Virginia Cavaliers. The game has a start time of 8:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on the ACC Network. Current Vegas betting odds have Virginia listed as 16.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 117.

Analysis:  The Clemson Tigers come into this game off a nice road win over the Pitt Panthers. The Tigers are now 9-6 overall, but just 1-2 in true road games and 1-2 in the ACC. Clemson is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record, but just 2-7-2 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games. Clemson is not a good offensive as they come in ranked 258th in scoring (64.7 ppg), 250th in shooting (42.0%), 318th in 3 point shooting (29.3%) and 210th in FT shooting (67.7%). The defense for this team has been solid, ranking 94th in points allowed (62.3 ppg), 61st in defensive FG% (39.2%) and 69th in 3 point defense (30.6%).

The Virginia Cavaliers come in as one of the top teams in the nation, as they are ranked 3rd in the polls with a perfect 15-0 record, that includes a tough 62-56 road win over Notre Dame on Saturday. The Cavs are 8-0 at home and 3-0 in the ACC. Virginia is 23-6-2 ATS in their last 31 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 17-5-2 ATS in their last 24 vs. Atlantic Coast, but just 1-3-1 ATS the last 5 in the meetings. Virginia has been a solid offensive team this year, ranking 119th in scoring (70.6 ppg), 26th in shooting (48.4%), 31st in 3 point shooting (39.0%) and 24th in FT shooting (74.5%). Defensively Cavs have been excellent, ranking 1st in points allowed (51.1 ppg), 2nd in defensive FG% (33.9%) and 113th in 3 point defense (31.8%).

Pick: Not sure why the OU line is climbing, but I will still go with the Under in this one. Both of these teams play at a very slow pace on offense, while both defenses have been very tough this year, with the Cavs allowed just 51.1 ppg overall including just 47 ppg at home, while the Tigers have allowed just 62.3 ppg overall, including just 62.7 ppg on the road.  With the kind of pace and defense that will be shown in this game I can see it as a 62-45 type game.
