The Baylor Bears are on the road tonight in Big 12 College Basketball action, taking on the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Currently the College Basketball Betting Odds for the game have Baylor favored on the road by a comfortable margin.

Baylor has to avoid the upset here in order to keep everything they've worked for intact. There have been several road upsets this season where the much better team went on the road and lost to an inferior opponent, many of those coming in the Big 12. Texas Tech has already knocked off then No. 9 Iowa State at home and they really have nothing else to play for other than playing spoiler.

In tonight's game we know one thing is absolutely certain — Rico Gathers is going to go hard on the glass. Gathers leads the country in rebounding at almost 13 per game and Texas Tech is not a good rebounding team. Gathers brings a double-double every night and he needs to lead the Bears to a victory in this road game. And Baylor really needs to get back on track tonight and avoid a three-game losing streak. In the last two games Oklahoma State and Kansas both beat Baylor by almost identical scores (75-65 Kansas, 74-64 OK State). 

Texas Tech only had one player in double figures on average in Devaugntah Williams at 10.3 points per game. This will be the first of two meetings between these schools and even though Texas Tech is playing at home, they will struggle to score as Baylor allows opponents to score just 59.9 points per game. That's just a single point less than what Texas Tech averages themselves, so it doesn't appear to be a good night on paper for the Red Raiders. 

Baylor needs a win here with several key games down the stretch still remaining on the schedule. Texas Tech is not a good basketball team and Baylor can't trip up.
