The Arizona Wildcats are taking on the Saint Mary’s Gaels tonight in college basketball action in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The game is scheduled for a 7:45 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. The college basketball odds for the game have the Wildcats favored to pick up the win.

Arizona should 100 points in their opening round matchup. That was impressive, but giving up 82 points to North Dakota is a bit of a concern. But head coach Sean Miller and the Wildcats are ready to advance to the Sweet 16 with a win here tonight if they pick up a win over a defensive-minded Saint Mary’s club.
The Gaels surrender the second-fewest points of anybody in college basketball at 57.1 per contest. VCU blew that number away though, posting 77 in the opening around. Saint Mary’s exceeded expectations as well with 85 on the board, the Gaels hadn’t scored that many points since a Jan. 22 win over Pepperdine.
Jock Landale and the Gaels could absolutely win this game. They are going to want to limit the possessions for Arizona, keep the game played in the half-court set and find a way to grind it out. They beat VCU the other day despite taking 20 fewer shots than the Rams. That’s real good precision on the offensive end.
Arizona’s load of talent could prove to be a difference as well. Rawle Alkins and Lauri Markkanen both had 20 points in the win and Allonzo Trier added 18 as well.
The Wildcats star power will be a big key here. Their length might not be as important, but overall they can get the win.
