The Cleveland Indians are looking for a fresh start and because of that they've made a lot of significant changes. They are a long-odds to win both the American League Central and the World Series. The Indians won just 68 games last season and finished in fourth place in the American League Central. The year prior the Indians finished in second place and won 80 games, so regression was part of the Indians season a year ago. It seems as if Cleveland has improved during the off-season, yet oddsmakers claim they have just 12/1 odds to win the division.
The Greek is telling you that the Indians are going to struggle this season. However, expect them to have a lot of value with those odds.
New skip Terry Francona takes over a team that had a major overhaul. The most surprising move of the offseason was Cleveland signing Michael Bourn to a heft contract. They also added Drew Stubbs, Nick Swisher and Mark Reynolds to name a few. Cleveland certainly appears to be wanting to change the face of the franchise and with many new faces, that won't take long. They lose Shin-Soo Choo but feel they have a much more balanced team heading into this season. Carlos Santana needs to bounce back from an ugly 2012 and now that there are some bats around him, he should have a good season. But the Indians will only go as far as their rotation takes them. Justin Masterson and Ubaldo Jimenez have to have great seasons.
