AFC North rivals Cleveland and Cincinnati will meet at Paul Brown Stadium today as both clubs look to avoid the dreaded 0-2 start. Start time for this divisional clash is set at 1:00pm ET; it will be broadcast live on CBS. Cleveland Browns vs Cincinnati Bengals Odds have Cincy listed as -7 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 39.5 points.
Cleveland defied the odds, reason, and sound football last Sunday in losing at home to the Philadelphia Eagles. No question the Browns were the inferior team, coming in a +9 against the spread, but when a team turns the ball over five times in your stadium, you are suppose to win the game.
The Eagles were the victors, though, beating Cleveland 17-16 as rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden matched Michael Vick’s four interception effort. Nothing else was even about the two players or the two teams with Philly producing a 456 to 210 total yards advantage and Vick nearly tripling Weeden’s 118 passing yards.
Unfortunately for the Browns, they find themselves in another mismatch today, although not as big a one as they faced last week. Cleveland catches in-state and divisional rival Cincinnati fresh off a 44-13 Monday night butt kicking at Baltimore.
The Bengals resembled last year’s 9-7 playoff team for about 2.5 quarters opposite the Ravens last weekend, but things fell apart rather quickly in the second half as Baltimore scored 17 unanswered points in the final six minutes of the third frame.
Cincinnati finished the game with 322 yards to the Ravens 430 and it was -2 in turnover margin while going 1-for-3 in the red zone.
If recent history holds true, the Bengals should bounce back with a win this afternoon. Cincinnati has won six of the last seven in this rivalry series; however, three of those six victories came by three or fewer points.
Free Pick: Lean to the Browns at +7. The Bengals are just 5-5 straight up and 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games as a home favorite with a total between 37 and 41 points.
Cleveland Browns vs Cincinnati Bengals Odds:
Cleveland Browns +7 (-110), Over 39.5 (-110), +270 (Moneyline)
Cincinnati Bengals -7 (-110), Under 39.5 (-110), -325 (Moneyline)
