Central Michigan enjoyed good success the last two years of Brian Kelly's tenure and it did even better under Butch Jones, posting a 28-13 record in his three seasons on the job, but the Dan Enos era has not gone as well. The Chippewas posted back to back 3-9 seasons in 2010 and 2011 before finally breaking through last year with a 7-6 record. Central Michigan went 4-4 in league play and earned its first bowl win since 2009 with a 24-21 upset of Western Kentucky. While Central Michigan made progress last season, it failed to contend with the MAC's heavy hitters. The Chippewas beat up on teams like Akron, Eastern Michigan, Miami, OH, and Massachusetts, but they lost by an average of 19 points per game against Northern Illinois, Ball State, and Toledo. Given what those teams have returning compared to what the Chippewas have back (13 starters), the long odds are no surprise.
