BYU Cougars 2014 BCS Title Odds

BYU's 2012 campaign did not begin as hoped as the Cougars suffered road losses at Utah and Boise State to open 2-2. However, Bronco Mendenhall rallied his troops and the team closed out the regular season on a 3-1 run to finish their schedule at 7-5. BYU also went on to defeat a quality San Diego State team 23-6 in the Poinsettia Bowl. The Cougars should be in line for another good season with eight starters back from last year's offense and 46 returning lettermen; however, their schedule has the odds makers at 5Dimes leaning toward another sub-nine win season. BYU is presently favored to win fewer than 8.5 games at -170 odds, and it is decidedly not in the national championship picture with its 2014 BCS Title Odds coming in at +50000 ($100 wins $50000).

As mentioned, the Cougars schedule is a grinder, and early college football lines from the Golden Nugget reflect the difficult nature of BYU's 2013 regular season slate. The Vegas book has issued lines for eight of BYU's 12 regular season games; the Cougars are listed as a dog against Texas, Wisconsin, and Notre Dame. Potential swing games include a home meeting with Boise State and road outings at Virginia and Nevada.
