College Basketball Betting Odds Buffalo Bulls vs West Virginia Mountaineers Free Pick

Today the Buffalo Bulls will tangle with the West Virginia Mountaineers at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament. The game has a start time of 2:10 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on TNT. Current Vegas betting odds have the Mountaineers listed as 5 point favorites, while the total is set at 149.5.

Analysis: The Buffalo Bulls have been on fire down the stretch as they have won their last 8 games, including both games in the MAC Tournament giving them that title, which put them in the Big Dance this is a sexy pick by many to move on. The Bulls come in at 23-9 ob the year and will be making their first ever trip to the Big Dance. Watch out for those nerves. Buffalo has gone 4-1 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. Buffalo has been a good offensive team this year, ranking 28th in scoring (75.0 ppg), 179th in shooting (43.5%), 193rd in 3 point shooting (34.0%) and 73rd in FT shooting (72.2%). The defense for this team has not been so good this year, ranking 235th in points allowed (68.3 ppg), 134th in defensive FG% (42.2%) and 116th in 3 point defense (33.0%).

The West Virginia Mountaineers have had an up and down year, especially in the Big 12, where they have not won more than 3 in a row or lost more than 2 in a row. Overall West Virginia had a very nice year, going 23-9, while finishing 5th in the very tough Big 12 conference. This will be West Virginia's 26th trip to the Big Dance and they have been to two Final Fours, but have yet to win it all. West Virginia has gone 13-5-1 ATS in their last 19 NCAA Tournament games, but 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 Friday games. The Mountaineers have been a good offensive squad this year, ranking 37th in scoring (73.9 ppg), 282nd in shooting (41.2%), 283rd in 3 point shooting (31.8%) and 277th in FT shooting (66.0%). The defense for this team has been rather average, ranking 176th in points allowed (66.8 ppg), 330th in defensive FG% (46.8%) and 290th in 3 point defense (36.6%).

Pick:  I can see this one falling under the total. Both teams can score and will play uptempo, but still Neither team shoots the ball all that well and we not that Buffalo averages just 70.4 ppg away from home, while the Mountaineers have averaged just 65.7 ppg in their games away from home. This is a tournament game, so it should be played at a slightly slower pace and that has me expecting no more than 142 points in this one.
