There is no rest for the weary as the slumping Boston Celtics take the court for the third time in four days when they battle the Atlanta Hawks tonight at the Philips Arena (7:30pm ET start time). The latest NBA Odds do not like the Celtics chances this evening as they are presently listed as a +5 against the spread road underdog. The game total in tonight’s Eastern Conference tilt between Boston and Atlanta is set at 185.5 points; the Hawks are drawing -220 moneyline odds to win their 15th home game of the season.
Boston recent woes continued last night at the TD Garden as the Atlantic leading Knicks defeating Doc Rivers squad 89-86. The Celtics, who are now 20-22 overall, held New York to 38.6 percent field goal shooting, but their own ineptitude from beyond the arc doomed them to a fifth consecutive loss.
Boston connected on just three of its 18 three point attempts, spoiling a 23 point, 10 rebound, 11 assist effort from point guard Rajon Rondo.
The quick turnaround does not figure to benefit the aging Celtics, who are 7-13 on the road. Boston has experienced some success against the Hawks, though.
Atlanta, which registered wins on Monday and Wednesday over the Timberwolves and Bobcats respectively to improve to 24-18 overall, has dropped five of its last six meetings with Boston and it is 1-2 straight up in its last three games as a home favorite against the Celtics.
The Hawks are also 2-8 against the spread over the last two years playing as a home favorite coming off a two game win streak.
