The Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Minnesota Golden Gophers meet up tonight in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Currently the College Basketball Betting Odds for the game have the Golden Gophers to win by a comfortable margin.
Minnesota is a much better basketball team than Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights won only two games during the regular season in the Big Ten, but one of those came against Wisconsin when the Badgers were without Frank Kaminsky. To date it’s been about the only bright spot for Rutgers on the season.
The Golden Gophers were a disappointment this season. Winners of only 17 games for the campaign, a 6-12 record in the conference slate really turned their year south. The Gophers ended the season with the 10th seed in the conference and have lost two straight games overall.
Rutgers comes in having lost 14 consecutive games, dating back to the win against Wisconsin.
Overall, Minnesota is a much better basketball team. Richard Pitino’s group has to come together and quickly get over the loss to Penn State on senior day, though.
D.J. Newbill connected for a triple as time expired to give the Nittany Lions a win at Minnesota, ending the conference regular season. If the Golden Gophers are still not focused because of that loss, Rutgers might be able to play a solid contest and give them a solid game.
Andre Hollins and Maurice Walker both have nice games in this one, propelling Minnesota’s season to another battle.
