The Northwestern Wildcats are on the road in Big Ten College Basketball action tonight when they take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Currently the Betting Odds for the game have the Gophers favored by double digits to pick up the win.

Minnesota still has a potential shot at making the NCAA Tournament. It sounds strange but with two games left against Wisconsin and a road trip against Michigan State, there are potential resume builders for the Gophers. With only two wins against the Top 50 RPI and nine losses against Top 100 RPI, the resume isn't terrible despite having 10 losses on the year. Picking up a win here over Northwestern is a must.

The Wildcats are just 11-14 on the season, but nine of those 14 losses have come against Top 50 RPI teams. The one great win for Northwestern this year came against Iowa on Sunday, knocking off the Hawkeyes 66-61 in a game Iowa really couldn't afford to lose. Maybe Northwestern turns their vision for the rest of the season into playing spoiler. Tonight they're taking on a Minnesota team that still has slim hopes of playing in the NCAA Tournament, but Northwestern can certainly give the knock-out to those dreams (except winning the Big Ten Tournament) with a road win.

The Gophers have posted a 12-2 record in home games this season, while Northwestern has struggled with a 2-6 record away from home. The Wildcats' most recent win over Iowa came at home, but it did end a 10-game losing streak overall.

Tonight, Minnesota is too strong though. The Golden Gophers absolutely need this win tonight.
