The Georgetown Hoyas host the Providence Friars tonight in Big East College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network. Currently the Betting Odds for the game have the Hoyas favored to pick up the win.
Georgetown has been beat up by Xavier a couple of times this season in Big East play. The only other team to knock off the Hoyas in conference action was Providence a few weeks back when the Friars pulled off a 3-point win in overtime.
The Hoyas have a couple of tough games coming up on the road at Villanova and at Seton Hall. They've played well by winning five of their last six games overall since the loss to Providence and they have some nice in-season revenge in this one.
D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera leads the Hoyas in scoring at 15.6 points per contest. He's helped lead Georgetown to 10 wins in 12 games at home this season. Smith-Rivera has put together some very nice games recently and scored 15 against Providence the first time.
Providence brings two solid scorers to the game tonight in LaDontae Henton (20.4 ppg) and Kris Dunn at 15.5 points per game. Henton, though, has been struggling on the offensive end of late by scoring just 25 points in the team's last two games. Earlier this year he had 19 against the Hoyas.
Georgetown has won six straight over Providence in DC. Also worth noting: Providence has been very poor on the road against ranked opponents, losing 31 straight overall.
