Big East Basketball on Monday and we will see the Cincinnati Bearcats travel to the Carrier Dome to take on the Syracuse Orangemen. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 pm (Eastern) start time and will be televised on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have Syracuse favored by 8.5 points while the total sits at 130. Free Analysis: Cincinnati got their 3rd win in a row in conference play with a thrilling win over a solid Marquette team 71-69. The Bearcats have now won three in a row after losing two in a row. The Bearcats were missing point guard Cashmere Wright due to a knee sprain on Saturday, putting more of the offense in Kilpatrick’s hands. Kilpatrick scored seven points in overtime to help Cincinnati to the win and could be expected to make up for Wright’s scoring absence again on Monday. Wright (15.1 points) is questionable for the game against the Orange. The Bearcats were one of the better scoring teams in the country during the non-conference schedule before struggling while dropping three of four from Dec. 27 to Jan. 7. They have jumped back up to 71.3 points per game during the three-game win streak. If Wright cannot make the start, JaQuon Paker and Ge’Lawn Guyn will handle point-guard duties
The Orange have won seven straight and have yet to fall in Big East play thanks to Michael Williams-Carter, who came through in the final minute to help knock off Louisville on Saturday. Williams-Carter scored nine of Syracuse’s final 11 points, including a steal and go-ahead dunk with 23 seconds left in the 70-68 victory over the Cardinals. The sophomore guard leads the nation in assists at 9.3 - 1.2 better than anyone else - and has shown an ability to bounce back from adversity and make in-game adjustments. Carter-Williams had a rough first half against Louisville and ended up with eight turnovers in the contest before coming through when it mattered. Carter-Williams has struggled with his shot in conference play but senior Brandon Triche pulled out of his slump on Saturday with a game-high 23 points. Triche went 9-of-13 from the field against the Cardinals after going 3-for-18 in the previous two games. Those two will try to wear Kilpatrick out on the defensive end while opening things up on the interior for forwards C.J. Fair, Rakeem Christmas and Jerami Grant. Syracuse lost to Cincinnati in the Big East tournament last spring, ending a four-game winning streak in the series.
