The Iowa State Cyclones are facing off with the West Virginia Mountaineers in the Big 12 Tournament Finals tonight. The game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. The college basketball odds for the game have the Mountaineers favored by a slim margin to pick up the tournament title.
College Basketball Odds
West Virginia -3
This game could go one of two ways, really. West Virginia likes to muck the game up, play pressure defense and be physical with opponents. Iowa State, on the other hand, would rather run around the floor and have the ball basically never tough the floor.
So a difference in style could prove to give either team an advantage based on how the game is called by officials. If the game is allowed to by physical, where West Virginia can play its crazy full-court press and body up the Cyclones for an entire game, it certainly favors the Mountaineers.
But if Monte Morris can get out in transition and have the Cyclones running wild, Iowa State has an excellent chance.
West Virginia reached this game last year as well, but fell to Kansas. If they were able to win tonight it would be the first Big 12 tournament title for the Mountaineers in their fifth season in the league. The last conference tournament title win for West Virginia came in 2010 while they were in the Big East.
This looks like it could be an entertaining one.
