The Oklahoma Sooners and Iowa State Cyclones meet up tonight in the Big 12 Tournament Semifinals in Kansas City. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Currently the College Basketball Betting Odds have Iowa State listed as a single point favorite over the Sooners to pick up the victory.

Iowa State finds itself in the conference semifinals after trailing the whole way last night to Texas. Monte Morris connected for a mid-range jumper as time expired to give the Cyclones the 69-67 win, the first lead of the game for Iowa State. Now the Cyclones have to get their minds right again as they take on an Oklahoma team that is very good and just beat up on their in-state rival Oklahoma State Cowboys last night.

These schools split meetings this season, each winning on their respective floors. Oklahoma was dominating the second game in Ames, but Iowa State came from behind and scored 59 second-half points in the victory, stunning Oklahoma. The Sooners no doubt want to get some revenge for that loss when they had the game pretty much won and tonight they have that opportunity.

The winner of this game heads to the tournament finals tomorrow night, a place where Iowa State won last season. Georges Niang poured in 22 last night and was instrumental in the comeback win, tonight he needs to continue to orchestrate the Cyclones on both ends of the floor.

Oklahoma can attack Iowa State on the interior the way Texas did, which gives them a solid shot. Isaiah Cousins, TaShawn Thomas and Ryan Spangler combine to average better than 33 points per game and along with Buddy Hield, the Sooners have a nice offensive team. 

If this gets into an up and down track meet, Oklahoma can play that way, but it favors Iowa State. The Cyclones want to speed this game up as much as possible and work the game in transition. The Sooners can play at that pace, but they’ll want to work it inside.
