The 17th ranked Baylor Bears open their conference season this weekend as they welcome the West Virginia Mountaineers to Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco, Texas. Kickoff in Saturday's clash between the Bears and Mountaineers is set for 8:00pm ET on Fox Sports 1. The latest Big 12 Football Odds have Baylor listed as a -28 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 69.5 points. The Mountaineers are drawing +2000 money line odds ($100 wins $2000) to improve to 2-1 in league play.

Outside of Oregon, no team in the nation has been as impressive as Art Briles Baylor Bears. Granted, Baylor has yet to play any noteworthy competition, but it has destroyed the teams it has faced, beating Wofford 69-3, Buffalo 70-13, and Louisiana-Monroe 70-7.

Given those scores, it is no surprise the Bears lead the nation in both total offense (751 yards per game) and scoring offense (69.7 points per game).

Junior quarterback Bryce Petty has been done an exceptional job replacing Nick Florence under center, throwing for 1001 yards and eight touchdowns while avoiding any interceptions. Petty currently ranks first in the FBS in passer rating (239.5) and he is second in completion percentage at 74.6 percent.

Running back Lache Seastrunk has also posted some ridiculous numbers, gaining 417 yards on 38 carries for an 11 yards per carry average.

West Virginia, which is coming off a huge upset win over Oklahoma State in Morgantown, is seemingly the most capable defensive team Baylor has faced this season, but whether or not it can slow Briles' crew remains to be seen.

The Mountaineers, who rank 37th in the nation in total defense, have turned in some respectable defensive outings this season; however, they have yet to see anything like the offensive torrent the Bears will throw at them.

If last year's meeting between these two rivals is any indication, West Virginia can expect to be in chase mode most of this game. The Bears fell by seven points to a Mountaineers team with a far more potent offense, but it posted an amazing 34 first downs, 700 yards, and 63 points in doing so.

Notable Trends: Baylor is 9-1 both straight up and against the spread in its last 10 games as a home favorite with a total of 54.5 or more points (Over was also 9-1 in those same 10 games).
