Later today, the 2013 Belmont Stakes will take center stage of the horse racing world. One of the horses running in the event is Palace Malice and the 2013 Belmont Stakes Odds has the horse as one of the longer shots to win. The third and final leg of horse racing's Triple Crown will take place later today at at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. While their isn't a horse running for horse racing glory in the Belmont Stakes, it certainly still will be a race to remember.
The Belmont Stakes is known in horse racing as the "Test of Champions" that covers 1.5 miles and certainly separates the contenders from the pretenders. Palace Malice did not run in the Preakness Stakes a few weeks ago but the horse is one of five for Todd Pletcher in this race. The 15-1 odds for the horse puts it as one of the longer shots to win the race and it's growing a lot of interest as the week continues to get closer to Saturday's event.
Palace Malice will open from the 12th post position. The horse started the Kentucky Derby very well, running up front for the beginning portion of the race. Yet, the horse ended up losing a lot of steam and ended up finishing 12th in the race. Jockey Mike Smith will once again ride Palace Malice. By not running in the Preakness, the horse probably will be able to get back into the shape it needs to be in order to run Saturday's Belmont.
