The American League Wild Card game takes place tonight as the Baltimore Orioles travel to take on theToronto Blue Jays. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on TBS. The MLB Odds for the game have the Blue Jays favored to pick up the victory at home.

Toronto and Baltimore won the race toward the Wild Card as the season dwindled down, now they face off once more. Being American League East rivals has them playing 19 times per season, the Blue Jays won 10 of those games during the regular season.

Marcus Stroman went 9-10 on the regular season, he started four games against the Orioles. Toronto dropped three of those four games and Stroman was roughed up in a couple of them as he went 1-2 with a 7.04 ERA covering 23 innings, where he surrendered 33 hits, 18 earned runs and allowed the Orioles to hit .344 during that span.

In home starts Stroman went 4-3, but did hold a 4.59 ERA.

The Orioles are starting Chris Tillman, one of the potential contenders for the Cy Young Award. Tillman went 16-6 on the season with a 3.77 ERA, though he wasn’t a big strikeout guy with only 140 punchouts in 172 innings.

Tillman has had his struggles at Rogers Centre in the past as well, holding a career mark of a 7.01 ERA. He’s been solid there this year, though, posting a 2.38 ERA in two starts though he didn’t factor into a decision.

Tillman tends to thrive in uncomfortable situations as well, posting a 2.97 ERA in road starts this season compared to a 4.61 ERA at home. He’s thrown more innings on the road as well.

This one could be an excellent game. The Orioles have won seven of 10, the Blue Jays have won six of 10. With two strong pitchers on the hill this should be a close contest.
