AutoZone Liberty Bowl West Virginia Mountaineers vs Texas A&M Aggies Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The West Virginia Mountaineers and Texas A&M Aggies meet up today in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have the Mountaineers favored to pick up the win.

Interesting line here as West Virginia QB Clint Trickett announced last week that he is retiring from football because of concussions. That's certainly a noble move by a quality player as he's looking forward to his future. Now the Mountaineers have to turn to Skyler Howard at the QB spot. Howard has actually played well the last two games for West Virginia, tossing five total touchdowns and no interceptions while providing a decent running option as well.

Plus, being able to throw the football to Kevin White is nice. White might be the best receiver in the country and caught nine touchdowns this season. His partner Mario Alford snagged 10 scores.

Both teams come into this contest at 7-5 and both can score points. The Aggies come in averaging 34 points per game while West Virginia scores 33 points per game themselves. Neither defense has been exceptionally good this year, both giving up more than 26 points per game to opponents. That could lead to a pretty solid game between these two schools in the first of three bowl games today.

The Aggies have a sour taste in their mouth coming into this one off two straight losses. The Mountaineers dropped three of their last four games and now have to make a change at their quarterback — but they are still favored in this game.

Texas A&M QB Kenny Hill was a serious Heisman contender after the first few weeks, but the Aggies got into conference play and started getting punched in the mouth. Hill is still probably a good quarterback, but the Aggies made the switch to freshman QB Kyle Allen, who threw nine touchdowns the last four games.

The defense that plays better in this one comes out on top. Both have athletic guys on that side of the football, but both have been giving up a ton of points and yards this season. We like the Aggies to get it done.

Free Pick: Texas A&M 34, West Virginia 31
