A matchup between the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights takes place on Saturday in college football. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on ESPN2. Currently the odds for the game have Rutgers as a home favorite to win.
During the last seven road trips for Arkansas, the Hogs have covered the number just once. At most shops taking action Arkansas opened as a 1-point favorite in this game but now the Knights are being dealt as a 1-point favorite themselves. Rutgers, however, is just 1-5 against the spread in their last six games overall.
While coaching in his last three seasons at the helm of Wisconsin, Bret Beilema posted an 8-3-1 record as an underdog against the number in road games. He knows how to get the best out of his players, especially in games where they are being doubted or playing a better opponent.
The line move should indicate that Rutgers quarterback Gary Nova is going to give it a try on Saturday. He's got a bit of a concussion problem and is still listed as questionable to play in the game, but with Rutgers being favored it certainly looks like he could play. Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen, dealing with a nagging shoulder injury, is expected to play.
Last year Rutgers went into Hog Country and picked up a 35-26 win over a reeling Arkansas club. They'll have some revenge on their minds in this one. They'll look to pound the football in this one and they have some pretty capable backs. Freshman Alex Collins and Jonathan Williams have rushed for better than 800 yards so far this season and five touchdowns.
This will be the best team both clubs have played to this point in the season and should be an entertaining game. But look at the next four games in a row for Arkansas — home against No. 10 Texas A&M, on the road at No. 19 Florida, home against No. 12 South Carolina and on the road at No. 1 Alabama. That has to be the toughest four games anybody in the country will play all season. Look ahead spot here in a game where Rutgers can beat the Hogs.
