Rich Rodriguez was reviled at Michigan after guiding the program to 15 wins in three years, but the folks in Tucson are pretty happy with him after last season. Rodriguez took over an Arizona Wildcats team that finished 4-8 in 2011 and coaxed eight wins out of it. Arizona placed fourth in the Pac 12 South with a 4-5 league record but a 3-0 non-conference run and a 49-48 New Mexico Bowl win over Nevada brought some life back to the desert. This year's squad will feature a new quarterback, but hopes are still high as all 11 defensive starters return as does all-world running back Ka'Deem Carey (1923 yards, 23 rush touchdowns). The Wildcats 2013 regular season win total is presently set at 7.5 games and the Over is drawing a favored -125 odds ($125 wins $100).
Arizona should manage another 3-0 non-conference record this year, but finding five league wins may prove difficult. The Wildcats face Colorado and California on the road and they get Utah and Washington State at home; theoretically, those are wins, but it gets dicey from there. The Golden Nugget has Arizona listed as an underdog in road meetings with USC and Arizona State and it is getting points in a home game against Oregon. That leaves an away game at Washington and a home meeting with UCLA as potential deciders. The Las Vegas book does have the Wildcats favored in each of those contests, though, as they are laying 5.5 against the Huskies and three opposite the Bruins.
