A clash between the PAC 12's Arizona Wildcats and Mountain West's UNLV Rebels is on tap tonight as the two squads meet at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. This evening's showdown between Arizona and UNLV is scheduled to get underway at 10:30pm ET on the CBS Sports Network. The latest College Football Point Spreads Week 2 from 5Dimes like the visiting Wildcats at -11.5 against the spread and -450 on the money line ($450 wins $100). UNLV is drawing a +360 money line ($100 wins $360) and the Over/Under is set at 61.5 points.
UNLV won just two games last season, but it suffered a number of close losses, indicating, along with its returning experience (18 starters back), it could be a much improved team this year.
The Rebels did not get off to a good start, though, as Minnesota knocked them off 51-23 last Thursday in Minneapolis. The score, however, did not reflect the overall competitive nature of the game.
UNLV out-gained the Gophers 419 yards to 320 and it averaged 5.7 yards per carry, but some horrible special teams play (Minnesota scored on kickoff return and a blocked field goal) and two fourth quarter interceptions led to the lopsided score.
Arizona had no such trouble in its season debut, pounding the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona (FCS) 35-0 at Arizona Stadium in Tucson.
The Wildcats, who played without star running back Ka'Deem Carey (1923 rush yards, 23 touchdowns), kept it in cruise control most of the game, finishing with 14 first downs and 393 total yards.
It will not have that luxury tonight against the Rebels, who, as mentioned, flashed some offensive potential in their loss to Minnesota. Daniel Jenkins, who led Arizona's rushing attack against the Lumberjacks (12 carries, 139 yards), will get the start at running back this evening, but Carey, who sat out the opener as punishment for an off-season altercation with his ex-girlfriend, is scheduled to play.
Containing those two, or at least trading blows with them, will be paramount for UNLV staying in this game.
College Football Point Spreads Betting Trend: The Wildcats are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games as a road favorite with a total of 54.5 or more points. UNLV is 6-1 against the spread (1-6 straight up) in its last seven games as a home dog with a total of 54.5 or more points.
Arizona vs UNLV College Football Point Spreads Week 2:
Arizona Wildcats -11.5 (-110), Over 61.5 (-110), -450 (Moneyline)
UNLV Rebels +11.5 (-110), Under 61.5 (-110), +360 (Moneyline)
