ALDS Game 4 Boston Red Sox vs Tampa Bay Rays

Game 4 of the ALDS takes place tonight and we will see the Boston Red Sox take on the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in Florida. First pitch is scheduled for a 8:30 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on TBS.

Current Odds

Boston              -121
Tampa bay       +111

Over/ Under: 7.5 U -115

Analysis: The Red Sox, who own a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series, held a 3-0 edge in Game 3 on Monday before falling 5-4 on Jose Lobaton’s walk-off homer. The Red Sox scored 19 runs in the first two games but struggled with runners in scoring position in Game 3. CF Jacoby Ellsbury is 8-for-14 with six runs scored in the series, while Ortiz (9-for-24) and Jarrod Saltalamacchia (8-for-25) each have three career home runs against Hellickson. Getting the ball tonight for the Sox is Jake Peavy, who posted a 5.40 ERA in four September starts. Overall Jake wend 12-5 with a 4.17 ERA for the Sox and will be making his first post season start since 2006.

The Tampa Bay Rays staved of elimination in dramatic fashion last night and will now be looking to send the series back to Boston tied at 2. Nothing seemed to go right for Tampa Bay in the first two games in Boston, but the Rays finally started to get some breaks in Game 3 and cashed them in on Evan Longoria’s three-run homer and Lobaton’s solo blast. Jeremy Hellickson gets the ball for the Rays after a very mediocre year, in which he went 12-10 with a 5.17 ERA. Jeremy went 1-0 with a 3.44 ERA in 3 starts vs the Sox this year, which is a big reason why he got the nod over Chris Archer.

Pick: I like the Sox to close out the series in this one.Jake Peavy has been solid in his career in post season games and the Red Sox offense is clearly at the top of their game right now. Hellickson had nice numbers vs the Sox during the regular season, but he still had a 5.17 ERA overall on the year and just wasn't very consistent. Boston will not need a game 5 to move on.
