Alabama lost a great deal in the offseason, but Nick Saban’s track record and the program’s pipeline of top shelf talent has the odds makers believing in the Tide’s chances to bring another National Championship Trophy back to Tuscaloosa in 2013. Alabama Crimson Tide 2013 BCS National Championship Odds have the school listed at 5-1 odds to successfully defend its title (a second pick to LSU 4-1). While the Tigers are a slight favorite over the Crimson Tide in the national championship chase, Alabama is favored to win the SEC at 37-20 odds ($100 to win $185). Saban’s crew is also a favorite (7-4 odds) to win the SEC’s West Division. 

Alabama looked unbeatable most of last season, and were it not for the team’s field goal kicking issues opposite LSU, Nick Saban would have realized his second undefeated season in five years at Tuscaloosa. One loss did not deter the Crimson Tide, though, as they still earned a spot in the BCS National Championship Game. Once there, Alabama avenged its regular season defeat at the hands of the Tigers with a 21-0 victory.

Doubting Saban’s ability to guide the Tide to another No. 1 finish would seem foolhardy; however, Alabama’s 2012 schedule is daunting to say the least. Road games at Arkansas, Missouri, and LSU, coupled with a neutral site season opener against Michigan, make an undefeated or one loss season appear unlikely.
