Alabama appeared as though it blew its shot at a second consecutive BCS Championship with a week 11 loss to Texas A&M, but appearances, at least in Alabama’s case, were deceiving. The ever changing BCS landscape experienced another seismic shift last weekend with both Kansas State and Oregon going down, a development which vaulted the Crimson Tide back into the national championship spotlight. The latest 2013 BCS Championship Odds from book maker William Hill are now favoring Alabama as Nick Saban’s crew is a -150 moneyline play ($150 wins $100) to win the coveted Coaches Trophy.
The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame are the renowned odds maker’s second pick at +300 odds while Georgia, which will face Alabama in the SEC title game, is a third choice at +400 ($100 wins $400) odds.
Oregon, which had a clear path to the BCS title game heading into last weekend’s meeting with Stanford, is now a 10-1 play thanks to its loss to the Cardinal. Kansas State, another team that had its BCS path laid out, is now drawing 22-1 odds ($100 wins $2200) after suffering a stunning setback at Baylor.
The only other schools with an individual odds listing are Florida and Florida State; they are presently drawing 22-1 and 40-1 odds, respectively. The two in-state rivals are set to meet this weekend in Tallahassee, which means one of them will be eliminated from BCS contention on Saturday.
