The Akron Zips has been an East Division bottom feeder for the last three seasons, going an astounding (in a bad way) 3-33 overall and 1-23 in conference play. Last year represented Terry Bowden's first on the job, though, and fans of the program are optimistic he can get the team headed in the right direction. However, righting the ship may be a three or four year project as the Zips have much to overcome. The Zips are also favored to win Under 2.5 games at -135 odds ($135 wins $100).

A quick look at Akron's 2013 schedule is anything but encouraging for Bowden and company. There are only two games where the Zips are likely to draw favored status, but one of those, the Massachusetts contest, is a toss up. The Minutemen defeated the Zips 22-14 in Akron last year, despite being lined as a 16 point underdog. The two schools are scheduled to clash in Amherst on November 16th; the loser will, in all likelihood, secure last place in the East.
