The game was moved to New Orleans following the controversial issues in North Carolina stemming from the "bathroom bill." The 2017 All-Star Game was the first major sporting event in the country relocated for a political reason dating back to 1990 when Super Bowl XXVII was moved from Arizona because the state didn't recognize Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
