The Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors are taking on the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders in the 2016 Hawai’i Bowl. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. The college football odds for the game have the Blue Raiders favored to pick up the win in this one.

Hawai’i has already played 13 games this season, plus they’re playing a home game here in this one which can either be productive because of lack of travel or boring because none of the players are excited to play in the game. The Rainbow Warriors won each of their last two games, beating Fresno State on the mainland and Massachusetts on the island.
The Rainbow Warriors won those games differently, beating the Bulldogs in a low-scoring 14-13 battle while taking out the Minutemen 46-40 in the final contest. Middle Tennessee State won eight games this season, led by returning quarterback Brent Stockstill, who didn’t play in the final three games of the season because of a broken collarbone.
Stockstill threw for 27 touchdowns and better than 2,800 yards and his favorite target was Richie James, who caught 97 passes for better than 1,450 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Blue Raiders also have an excellent run game, peeling off 6.1 yards per carry this season with 25 scores on the ground.
The team is led by I’Tavius Mathers coming out of the backfield, he piled up more than 1,500 yards at a 6.8 yard per carry clip this season with 16 scores on the ground. He’s also a weapon coming out of the backfield and catching passes, he snagged 62 of them this season that accounted for almost 10 yards per catch. MTSU’s offense will have no problems scoring points in this game, but will Hawai’i be able to keep up?
The Rainbow Warriors played an extra game this season and also had tougher competition on the schedule, but that might not help them enough to score enough points.
