2014 World Cup Greece vs Ivory Coast Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Key Battles That Will Shape Greece's World Cup Clash with Ivory Coast

Greece will take on the Ivory Coast Tuesday evening in the 2014 World Cup. The match will be the third and final group match for both teams and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2 with a 4:00 p.m. (EST) start time. The odds for the matchup have the Ivory Coast favored to pick up a victory.

This matchup has a lot of scenarios. Neither the Ivory Coast or Greece have qualified for the Round of 16 yet, but both have an opportunity to do so. The Ivory Coast heads into this matchup with three points, trailing only Colombia's six points atop the Group C standings. Greece has just one point, but a victory in this matchup and some help could propel them to the knockout stage. They're going to need Colombia to beat Japan in the other matchup, as the Japanese haven't been eliminated either.

Colombia has been the only team in this group that has looked great from the opening minute of the World Cup. They've scored five goals compared to allowing just one and have two victories to show for it. If the Ivory Coast gets a win over Greece in this matchup, they're on to the Round of 16. They can also draw and potentially punch their tickets as well. Japan is -1 in goal differential so far this World Cup while the Ivory Coast is level, scoring three and allowing three goals so far. Japan would have to beat Colombia by a couple of goals and have the Ivory Coast draw to reach the knockout stage. If Japan is able to beat Colombia it would outright eliminate the Greeks.

Greece and Ivory Coast have not met on the pitch prior to this matchup. They'll each be playing without one of their players in this one as Greece midfielder Kostas Katsouranis received a red card in the last match and Ivory Coast defender Didier Zokora has gotten two yellow cards.

We think both teams will find a way to score in this match. They have to find a way, considering a loss without scoring would be the worst possible option. A draw is very possible in this matchup, but we like the Ivory Coast to find a way to win this one. Greece played their last match with just 10 guys so fatigue could be an option.
