Utah State is coming off 20 wins the past two seasons combined and they're looking ti increase that number this year. The 2014 Utah State Aggies Schedule has some tough games on it, but the Aggies are confident.
Matt Wells took over for Gary Andersen, who left the program to be the coach at Wisconsin. Last year Wells guided the Aggies to a 9-5 season and a victory over Northern Illinois in the Poinsettia Bowl.
Chuckie Keeton returns for his senior season and if he wasn't hurt last year, the Aggies might have won even more games. This year they'll open at Tennessee, which isn't going to be easy, but the Aggies believe they can play inside Knoxville and play well. Keeton should be back on the field at at 100 percent for that game against Tennessee, but if he can't play the Aggies have an option in backup Darell Garretson, who had a very good 2013 campaign which featured nearly 1,500 yards through the air and 10 TDs. He also completed better than 60 percent of his throws.
The offensive line will be a patchwork job and is going to need some time to get things figured out.
Defensively the Aggies bring back five starters from 2013, including all three linebackers. This should be a positive for Utah State as they look to repeat as the Mountain West champion. Remember, the Aggies came over to the Mountain West from the WAC and took the league by storm.
If they are able to figure out the offensive line, run the football effectively and continue to play hard defensively, they could be in for another good season.
