The San Diego State Aztecs are looking to build off another solid year in 2013. The 2014 San Diego State Aztecs Schedule has six road games on it, but a team loaded with seasoned players should help this season.
Rocky Long returns for his fourth year at the helm of the San Diego State program. He's already won 25 games there in the last three season and picked up a Famous Idaho Potato Bowl victory over Buffalo, 49-24.
The Aztecs do have some tough road games including two in their first three games at North Carolina and at Oregon State. Even if they start off on badly, their Mountain West schedule also isn't the easiest in the league, either. Last year they finished second in the West Division with eight overall wins.
Quinn Kahler will be the starting QB after a 3,000 yard season and 19 TDs last year. Adam Muema left early for the NFL at running back, so the Aztecs will have to replace his production at the position.
San Diego State, defensively, should be pretty solid. Long calls the plays for his defensive unit and returns seven starters from last year's group. Up front they have solid guys and the linebacking corps is led by seniors.
Long said they will be breaking in a new kicker, which is definitely something they want to improve this season. Last year the Aztecs made just eight field goals in 16 attempts, four of those were blocked. The special teams has to get better if the Aztecs are going to win this season.
Tough road games at Fresno State, Nevada and Boise should determine what happens this season with the Aztecs. If they can win a couple of those, they are going to be in a very good position.
