A different team has won the National League Central Division each of the last three seasons, but if the odds makers at Sportsbook.ag are to be believed, the first place carousel will come to a stop this season. The St. Louis Cardinals, who won the NL Central last season with a 97-65 record, are drawing a -170 price ($170 wins $100) in the bookmaker's opening 2014 NL Central Division Odds, making them a big favorite to top the division standings this year.
The Pittsburgh Pirates, who finally ended their extended playoff drought last season, are a second pick to win the NL Central at +350 odds ($100 wins $350). The Bucs took second place in the division last year, finishing with a 94-68 record, their best mark since 1992.
The Cincinnati Reds are the offshore bookmaker's third choice to win the NL Central with a +400 line. The Reds, who won the division crown in 2012, were in the Central chase late into the 2013 campaign, but a five game losing streak to close out the season knocked them out of championship contention.
The Brewers are the fourth pick at +1200 odds while the lowly Chicago Cubs are expected to finish last at +6000 odds.
2014 NL Central Division Odds:
St. Louis Cardinals -170
Pittsburgh Pirates +350
Cincinnati Reds +400
Milwaukee Brewers +1200
Chicago Cubs +6000
