2014 New Orleans Saints Super Bowl Odds

The New Orleans Saints are 11-5 on the year and have made it back to the playoffs, after missing out last year due to the Bounty Gate scandal. The Saints come in to the playoffs at 12-1 Odds to win the NFC and 25-1 Odds to win Super Bowl 48

The Saints started out the year with a 5-0 mark, but they went just 6-5 in their last 11 games, mainly because of their struggles on the road. The Saints were perfect at home this year, but put this team on the road and they were just 3-5 on the year. At home this year the Saints have scored 34 ppg, while outscoring foes by 18.4 ppg, but put this team on the road and they have averaged just 17.8 ppg and have been outscored by 4.6 ppg.

Now despite playing 8 of his games on the road, Drew Brees still had an outstanding year throwing for 5000+ yards for the 3rd year in a row and 4th time in his career. Drew also had 39 TD passes and just 12 INTs for a Saints offense that ranked 4th overall 2nd in passing and 10th in scoring (25.9 ppg).

The offense has been outstanding for the Saints this year as always, but it has been their improvements on the defensive side of the ball that has them thinking they can get back to the Super Bowl. Last year New Orleans had one of the worst defenses in the league, allowing 440 ypg and 28 ppg, but in the off season they hired Ex-Cowboy DC, Rob Ryan, and he changed the face of this defense. The Saints have improved by 134 ypg on that side of the ball to rank 4th in total defense this year, while also ranking 2nd vs the pass and 4th in points allowed, giving up just 19 ppg. This is a complete team and if they can shake their road woes then they have a shot at going deep in the playoffs.

Next, New Orleans will pay a visit to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 8:10 p.m. ET. The Saints have been listed at 2.5 point underdogs, while the total sites at 54.5.
