2014 Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks Football Schedule, Preview

Independence Bowl 2012: Ohio vs. Louisiana-Monroe TV Info, Predictions, and More

The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks are looking to improve from their 6-6 campaign last season. The 2014 Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks Schedule has some tough contests on the docket, including having to play four of their last five games this season on the road.

The bottom part of the Warhawk schedule is brutal. Once November hits, they will play at Texas A&M, at Appalachian State, at New Mexico State and at Georgia Southern. What makes that part of the schedule even worse is their earlier season games at LSU and at Kentucky. That's three SEC schools on the schedule which already has a lot of tough games on it.

Monroe is also having to replace Kolton Browning, a quarterback that threw for better than 10,000 yards in his career. Obviously the quarterback position is going to be a tough one to fill, but Brayle Brown did play for Browning when he battled some leg injuries last season. The Warhawks do have some pretty solid skill positions players in receiver Rashon Ceaser and tailback Centarius Donald. Ceaser caught 65 passes last season while Donald led the team in rushing. They also have a pretty solid tight end transfer from Colorado in Vincent Hobbs.

Defensively they are going to have to improve. The Warhawks gave up an average of 427 yards per game last season and that didn't help them in their 6-6 season. They do have some returning starters back, so experience could improve them. But with three bigtime programs on the schedule this season in addition to a tough Sun Belt Conference slate, the Warhawks might have to outscore opponents.
