Colorado State enters the third year under head coach Jim McElwain and they are looking to keep improving. The 2014 Colorado State Rams Schedule starts with a rivalry game against the Buffaloes and doesn't get easier from there.
Colorado State won eight games last year and picked up a New Mexico Bowl victory over Washington State in a whacky game. They also won four of their last five games overall, building up some momentum and high spirits heading into this season.
Quarterback Garrett Grayson, now a senior, has proven he can get the job done for the Rams. His almost 4,000 yards through the air last season were best in the Mountain West and if the Rams can continue throwing the rock with consistency, they could win another eight games this season. He has some decent receivers and tight ends to catch the ball as well.
Colorado State does need to get better on defense. The Rams have three returners in the secondary, which helps, but building some depth on that defense will certainly make them a better team.
There are winnable games on the schedule with UC Davis, Boston College and Tulsa all playing this year against the Rams.
This could be a bright season for McElwain and Colorado State. Their top goal is to beat rival Colorado in the opening game of the year and go from there.
