Ride On Curlin is drawing a lot of attention as a possible spoiler to California Chrome and the Triple Crown dream. The horse took second place in the Preakness Stakes and still has a 12-1 number heading into this race.
Ride On Curlin is trained by William Gowan, known to the horse racing world as "Bronco." Ride On Curlin, runner of 11 races to date, has picked up a couple of victories, second place finishes and taken third several times. Ride On Curlin is the model of consistency and has cashed for horse bettors in all six of his graded stakes races except the Kentucky Derby.
The horse finished seventh in the Kentucky Derby and second in the Preakness Stakes, but also took second in the Arkansas Derby and was ridden by Calvin Borel at the Kentucky Derby. Borel rode Ride On Curlin to both of its victories as well, but did not ride in the Preakness.
The horse will be ridden by John Velazquez in this race. Velazquez is a Hall of Fame jockey that won the Kentucky Derby in 2011 aboard Animal Kingdom.
